An Aspiring Farmer

I close my eyes and imagine walking through the countryside of an old European village.  The green rolling hills are peppered with family farms.  Plants of all varieties growing, livestock mulling about, and families working in the fields together.  A community of people that respect the land and care about their neighbors.  Trading their goods or labor with those nearby without oversight.  Working hard and learning lessons every day, planning the next day’s work each evening.  Thanking mother nature for all she provides as they lay their heads on their pillows.  Getting a restful night’s sleep with no regrets weighing on their minds…

Then I open my eyes and remember that I’m living in the 21st century, in the dawn of the digital age.  Most of us have become comfortable spending our time sitting and staring at screens.  This is the new normal to kids as they develop.  It’s a depressing scene that I want to be a very small part of a revolution to change.  Don’t get me wrong- I enjoy many of the things modern technology offers, but I also recognize that I don’t want to live in the “metaverse”.  I want to work with nature to learn how to grow and eat good food.  If things go well, I’d like to share what I’ve learned with others that might be interested.  This is one of the reasons why I’ve chosen to pursue my goal of starting a small farm.  It’s my density.  I mean, my destiny…

Now all I need is some land and a business plan!
